Joan Vos

Joan was born in Kingston Jamaica and knew from an early age that her passion was for the poor and needy. While living in Montego Bay Jamaica, she met her husband Blaine. She found out that he too had a passion for the poor and needy as well. Together they became a team in ministering to the poor. They operated a street-people, soup kitchen to help with feeding hungry people. They hosted a youth group at an orphanage in the area every Friday night. Joan also ran a good news Bible club every Saturday morning in their home and housed 15-20 kids each time.

Joan supervised and managed an interior decorating shop in Montego Bay where she designed and made items like drapery and quilted comforters. She participated in an on the job training program with the Wyndham 5 Star hotel to become a pastry chef. Joan is a certified trained cake decorator with the Wilton cake decorating company of Colorado.

Joan served on the New Hope Community Center Board in Oskaloosa Iowa for 5 years. She was the Directors for New Hope Community Center for 7 years. Joan also worked 10 years as an in-home care giver to the elderly. Joan and her husband also fostered and cared for 6 children over the years and adopted 2.
