Dear Friends:

For more than two decades, JMI has helped children in Jamaica break the cycle of poverty through education. Many children can’t attend school simply because their families can’t afford basic items like uniforms, lunch money, books or transportation fees. JMI is changing that, one student at a time.

Imagine being 13 years old, unable to read, and put out of your home. That was the reality for a young girl in Jamaica, until Jamaica Mission from Iowa stepped in. The Mission gave her a home, taught her to read and provided support for her education. This student is now grown up and working at a hotel in the resort community of Montego Bay.

Another student who through the support of the Mission, excelled in school, graduated at the top of her class and became a proud small business owner:
